Funeral services for Mr. Aaron Jerome Smith, of Washington D.C. who passed away, October 30th while helping a friend change a tire in the "Superstorm Sandy", will be held on Saturday, November 17, 2012 at 12:30 p.m. at Aikens Funeral Home Chapel, 2708 E. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., with Elder Michelle B. Patty, officiating. Interment will be at Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery. Smith was born on January 28, 1977, in Tampa, Florida to two loving parents, Mr. Pete Jerome Smith and Mrs. Gloria B Artis. As a young man of profound faith, Aaron found love and friendship in Capitol Heights, Maryland, where he and his mother Gloria along with his stepfather and mentor, Norman Artis, brothers Antwane & Adrian reside. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Levi David Smith (Mary Lee), his maternal grandparents, Earl Lee Bass, Sr. (Martha Jane Handley); aunts: Mary Lou Smith Coakley, Sally Geter, Vernice Aaron and Maple Neal; uncles, Arnold Smith, Leon Smith, Robert Bass, Earl Lee Bass, Jr. He leaves to cherish his loving memories: a devoted father & mother, Pete J. Smith (Diane) Tampa, Florida and Gloria Artis (Norman), Capitol Heights, Maryland; brothers, Adrian M. Bass and Antwane L.
