Mr. Adail Ortiz was born on January 23, 1932, in Naranjito, Puerto Rico, and attended Academia de Naranjito during his early years. Mr. Ortiz honorably served his country in the United States Army and was a proud veteran of the Korean War. For his courageous service, he received the Korean Service Medal with two Bronze Stars, the United Nations Service Medal, and the Combat Infantryman Badge.
He was also greatly honored to serve as an Honorary Guard to President Dwight D. Eisenhower. After his military service, Adail met the love of his life in New York. Their meeting blossomed into a beautiful marriage that lasted 70 wonderful years, a testament to enduring love, faithfulness, and commitment. He was a very romantic man who deeply cherished his wife and family.
Mr. Ortiz enjoyed life's simple pleasures. He loved baseball and was a devoted St. Louis Cardinals fan. He was gifted with his hands and found joy in fixing things, especially taking apart and putting back together cars and lawn mowers. A true handyman, he had a natural talent for understanding how things worked. Though shy and quiet, Mr. Ortiz was a strong and steady presence to all who knew him. He kept to himself, yet his life spoke volumes. He represented strength, security, and dependability. He was kind, caring, and protective, always looking after those he loved. He was a responsible man, a good provider, and a gifted storyteller whose memories and wisdom will be treasured forever.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Amelia Ortiz; son, Joel Ortiz; brothers, Ramon Padilla, Eddie Williams Ortiz, Reyes Cabrera, Jose J. Cabrera; sister, Lydia E. Ortiz; aunts, Juana Ortiz and Providencia Ortiz; uncles, Pedro Ortiz and Justino Ortiz.
He leaves cherished memories to his beloved wife of 70 years, Dolores Rosado Ortiz; sons, Adail Ortiz, Jr., Angel Ortiz and Victor D. Ortiz; daughter, Loreyna M. Ortiz; grandchildren, Adail Ortiz, Jr., Alexis R. Ortiz, Adrian Ortiz, Amie Healy, Angel Ortiz, Jr., Opal Ortiz and Anamaria Ortiz; great-grandchildren, Rodrigo A. Ortiz, Yahil Ortiz, Emilio A. Ortiz, Avery Rose Healy, Natalia E. Quiles, Noah D. Quiles; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; along with special friend from his hometown, Abiud.
Mr. Ortiz will be remembered for his quiet strength, his loving heart, and the faith that carried him throughout his life. His family rejoices in the promise of eternal peace and takes comfort in knowing that he now rests in the presence of the Lord.
