Obituary

Homegoing services for Mr. Albert C. Blocker of Tampa who passed away Tuesday, January 6, 2015, will be held Saturday, January 17th, 11:00 a.m., at Friendly Missionary Baptist Church, 1901 N. Central Ave., Rev. Johnny Miller, pastor officiating. The interment will be in John Milton Cemetery, Bronson, Florida. Albert C. Blocker was born July 29, 1929 to the late Rev. John Henry and Eliza Jane Blocker in Gulf Hammock, Florida. Albert attended Levy County Schools. He lived and worked in Gulf Hammock until adulthood. In 1957, he moved to Tampa, Florida, where he met and later married, Johnnie Mae Moss Blocker. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Ida Bell Brown and Mae Belle White; three brothers, Nathaniel Kitt, Ernest M. Blocker and John Henry Blocker, Jr. Mr. Blocker worked as a construction foreman throughout the Tampa Bay area on residential construction projects in Town N' Country and Clair Mel City subdivisions, in addition to many private home renovations. Mr. Blocker was a member of the local labor union #1207 for more than twenty-eight years, where he continued his career as construction foreman on other residential and business projects that includes the construction of the Big Bend Power Plant. He leaves to cherish memory loving children, Antionette Varnes, Natasha Blocker; Clevetta McHenry (Marty), Cleveland Moss, Jr. (Ann) and Marvin Moss; thirteen grandchildren, Carla Morning, Keith Cook (Howdrena), Dina Varnes, Christopher Blocker, Brittney Causey, Patrick Blocker and Melvin Sylvester, Willie Harris, Jr., Eric Harris (Julie), Monica Anderson, Tracie Garrett, Cindy Carter (Markel) and Vernindale Garrett (Latoya); nieces, Julia Cheatham and Cynthia Brown, Chicago; nephews, Nathaniel, Jr., Ronald and Reggie Kitt, all of Bradenton and Ronald Blocker of Orlando; forty-eight great grandchildren and thirty great great grandchildren; many great nieces and nephews; four godsons and one goddaughter. The visitation will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Friday, January 16th from 5 to 8 p.m. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the church for the service on Saturday.
