"Bodean" Carswell, Sr.
February 10, 1954 – June 24, 2025
Mr. Albert William "Bodean" Carswell was born on February 10, 1954, in Tampa, FL, to the union of Alfred Carswell, Sr. and Esther Mae Jones Carswell Pinkney. He attended the public schools of Hillsborough County-Middleton/Leto High School class of 1972. He graduated from Hillsborough Community College in 1976. He was employed by Seaboard Coast Line Railroad and later became an independent Masonry Construction Contractor and member of Richard Allen Lodge #447 Modern F&A Mason.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred Carswell, Sr. and Esther Mae Jones Carswell Pinkney; wife, Oveda Peterson Carswell; older brother, Alfred Carswell, Jr.; and niece, Eddyssia Livingston.
He leaves behind a loving legacy through his devoted children and grandchildren. He is survived by his beloved children, Albert (Zenzi) Carswell, Jr., Holly Bowers, Shawnda (TJ) Halyard, Arielle Eubanks Carswell, Bonesha (Julius, Sr.) Kilpatrick, Elizabeth Young, and Albert Carswell III. He was a proud grandfather to Alexander (Erika) Carswell, Austin Carswell, Aléna Carswell, Aliyah Carswell, Aden Blake, Elijah Dehoyos, Joshua Dent, Joseph Dent, Jessiah White, Jonathan Halyard, Jazlyn Halyard, Justice Halyard, Jiselle Halyard, Nya Eubanks Carswell, Jazmin Turner, Edward Turner, Jr., Sophia Turner, Carson Kilpatrick, Julissa Kilpatrick, Julius Kilpatrick, Jr., Jacari Reed, Rylan Young, Aaliyah Nelson, Riley Nelson III, and Ra'mier Nelson; siblings, Alvin (Sharon) Carswell, Rosalind Carswell, Curtis (Vicki) Carswell, V. Yvette (Ernest) Carswell Howard-Sutton, Van (Bridgett) Carswell, and Davida (Anthony) Smith; a few special friends that are like family, Vanecia Jones, Lynne Johnson, Jim Smith, Ruben Mitchell, and Gregory West; the Idlewild neighborhood families of Belmont Heights, MELLOW-VILLE of Tampa, FL; and a host of sorrowing nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends. There will be no viewing during or after the service. The family will meet with family and friends for a social gathering immediately following services at The Venue 2106.
