Obituary

Alexander M. Smith, affectionately known as "Al" or "Sand," was born on April 29, 1962, at Lilly White Hospital in Tampa, FL, to Alexander M. Sr. and Carolyn E. Smith. After graduating from Leto High School in 1980, Al enlisted in the U.S. Army and married his high school sweetheart, Kimberly Finely-Smith. Together, they had four daughters: Lakisha in Ft. Benning Georgia (1982), Sharolyn in Stugart, Germany (1985), Chrisanne in Ft. Hood Texas (1987), and Ebony in Tampa (1993). Al served as a medic in the Army and later became a well-respected Licensed Practical Nurse. He worked at University Community Hospital for 27 years where he won numerous awards, Brandon Hospital for 14 years, and James A. Haley Veterans Hospital until his passing.

In his free time, Al enjoyed watching the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, playing billiards, and spending time with family and friends. He was a God-fearing devoted husband, father, brother, son, nephew, and friend, and he will be deeply missed.
