Obituary

Alfonso Salter, affectionately known as "Salt", was the firstborn to Mrs. Pearl Hart in Tampa, Florida on September 17, 1943. "Salt" transitioned from this earthly life to have eternal rest with his Heavenly Father. He attended local schools in Hillsborough County, he graduated in 1961 from Middleton High School. He attended Gibbs Junior College, now known as St. Petersburg College.

On May 16, 1970, Alfonso and Freddie Jean West were united in holy matrimony; and to this union, one loving and devoted daughter was born, Erika Nicole Salter. Erika served as guardian and sole caretaker of her father until his death. He was preceded in death by his loving and devoted mother; Pearl Hart, grandfather; Frank Salter, aunt; Sarah Haymon and sister; Gloria Hart.

Cherishing his memories are his daughters: Erika Salter, Esquire (Dallas, TX), Tamiko Salter-Clemons (Kenneth), Karen Hart (Leonard), Shonda Bulmer, Calandra Williams, his sisters daughter; Tangela Mitchell Rivers (Bakor) all of Tampa, Florida. He is also survived by grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a host of family members and friends. A special thank you to those childhood friends who faithfully visited him during his lengthy illness : Bobby Bowden, Alfredo Morange, and Charles Myers.
