A Celebration of Life for Mrs. Alisa Ann Jackson, of Riverview, FL, who passed away on Friday, April 17, 2009, will be held Saturday, April 25th, 2:00 p.m., at New Hope M.B. Church, 3005 E. Ellicott St., with Rev. Dr. T.W. Jenkins, officiating. Interment will be held in Serenity Meadows Memorial Park Cemetery (Riverview) on Monday, April 27th at 10:30 a.m. Alisa was born on October 3, 1968 in Niagara Falls, New York to the late Robert and Magdalene Burns. She attended the local schools and graduated from Niagara Falls High School in 1986. She attended Nazareth College of Rochester, New York, where she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1990, and Erie Community College receiving an Associate degree in Applied Science in 1992. While living in New York, Alisa was a faithful member of the New Hope Church, Niagara Falls, under the leadership of Reverend Harvey L. Kelly until moving to Dallas, Texas. She relocated from Dallas, Texas to Tampa, Florida in 1996 and was employed with the State of Florida Department of Children & Families until her demise. Her skills and abilities were quickly recognized and she worked her way up the ranks, first as Senior Worker, then as Supervisor, and later as the Operations Management Consultant for the Ruskin & Hargrett Service Centers. In July of 2005, she was promoted to the program office. Alisa was in the inaugural class of the region's Management Training Program, graduating in 2005. Most recently, she was selected to participate in the statewide ACCESS Leadership Program, and was named the project manager for her team. She was also a third year Sterling Examiner. In 1996, she married Douglas Jackson and became a member of New Hope M.B. Church (Tampa, FL), under the leadership of Rev. Dr. T.W. Jenkins. She attended church regularly and was a member of the Gospel Choir. Alisa also volunteered in several charitable organizations. Alisa was preceded in death by both parents; grandfather, Q.P. Stephens; grandmother, Seppie Stephens; and uncles, Marvin Stephens, John Stephens, Howard Stephens, Sr., Clarence Brown and Harrison Glover. She leaves to mourn: aunts, Ruth Glover, Rutha Stephens and Virginia Brown; uncles, Ulysses (Hazel) Stephens, Lovell (Maureen) Stephens and Lucious (Carla) Stephens; a host of cousins; Jeffrey Stephens, Eldred (Beverly) Stephens, Gregory (Sharon) Stephens, Lavon (Blanche) Stephens, Elaina (Sebastian) Gibson, Darren (Shawanna) Stephens, Darnell Stephens, Lamore Stephens, Howard Stephens, Jr., David (Adrina) Brown, Brianna Stephens, Eldred (Ebony) Stephens, Jr., Stephanie Payne, Emily Stephens, Carlos Knight, Willie (Tina) Fields, Jacqueline Fields, Ricardo Hargrove, Raeena Hargrove and Bobbie Jean Hargrove; extended family, Ambrosia Gibson, Natia Curry, Destiny Prince, Julia Newell, Larricka Hargrove, Raina Hargrove, Elijah Gibson, Antonio Hargrove, Kaleb Brown, Hannah Brown, Nicholette Stephens, Tyler Stephens, Skyerene Stephens, Devonne Stephens, Brenden Stephens,Jayden Stephens, Marvin Stephens; god-son, Jukori Lee Bates; and a host of other relatives and friends. The remains will repose at Aikens Funeral Home on Friday, April 24th from 5 to 8 p.m. The family will receive friends from 5 to 6 p.m. Friends are asked to assemble at the church approximately 1:45 p.m. Saturday for the service.
