Obituary

A homegoing celebration for Bro. Alphonso Williams of Tampa, Florida who passed away on Friday, November 3, 2017 will be held Saturday, November 11th, 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of College Hill, 3838 N. 29th St., Rev. Evan S. Burrows, officiating. The interment will be in Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Florida. Alphonso Williams was born June 23, 1919 in Gainesville, Florida. He attended the schools of Alachua County. He was retired from Chase Sandbore/Nabisco and Kraft companies of 32 years of service. He was a veteran of the United States Army, World War II, and was honorably discharged. He enjoyed watching Westerns, WWF, fishing and spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his father, Marion Williams Sr. and mother, Ella Lowell; wife, Amanda Williams; brothers, Charlie Williams, Sr., James Chester Williams and Marion Williams, Jr. of Gainesville, FL; sisters, Viola Williams and Blones McCray; daughter, Valerie Williams and son, Henry Gillette Sr. He leaves to cherish his precious memories with his loving daughter, Ella Williams; sons, Willie Gillette, Sr. and Alvin Bunche (Mary); daughter-in-law-, Jane Gillette; grandchildren, Shonese Gardner, Vonda Williams, Henry Gillette (Kathy), Phoebe Andrews (Zane), Marketa Gillette, Brenda Harper, Darlene Belgrave (Norman), Desiree Moore (Albert), Lesley Pickens (Reginald), Alvin Bunche Jr., Keith Gillette (Tameka), Kevin Gillette of New York, William Gillette, Jr., of New York, Javon Gillette (Kim) and Alvina Bunche; great-grandchildren, Santana Williams, Telando Gardner, Jr., DeQuan Smith, Cheyanne Wilburn and Dejah Jenkins; a devoted friend, Samuel Livingston; sisters-in-law, Luzella Williams of Gainesville, Mildred Thompson and Viola Jones; a host of other family members and friends. The visitation will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Friday, November 10th from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the church on Saturday for the service.
