Graveside services for Mrs. America 'China' Hammond of Tampa who passed away Monday, June 1, 2015 will be held Friday, June 5th at 11:30 a.m., Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery, 4615 E. Hanna Avenue, Tampa, Florida 33610. America was born on December 10, 1919 to Julio Penalver and Edelmira Roque. She was of the Catholic faith and loved dancing, music and people; She never met a stranger. She was preceded in death by her parents, Julio and Edelmira Penalver;husband,David Hammond; brother, Evelio Penalver; sister, Caridad Brown and son-in-law, Luis Morales. She leaves to cherish her memories: daughter, Rhonda S.H. Morales; sons, Roland D. Hammond and Reginald L. Hammond (Yolanda);grandchildren, Aziza Ebony Hammond, Reginald Hammond, Jr., David L. Morales and Emanuel L. Morales; brother, Oscar 'Kiti' Penalver; sister, Dalia Planchat; nieces, Betty Brooks, Julie Swain, Onelia Hammond-Whitlow, Dolores Roberts, Ilona Penalver and Alexis Penalver; nephews, Evelio Penalver, Larry Planchat, Martin Brown and Michael Brown; cousins, Olga Villada Barnes, Idella Tyler, Augustina Gibbons, Alfred Barnes III, Zane L.V. Barnes, Mercedes Gray, Arturo Villada, Jr., Loretta Cunningham and Dr. Leslie Rankin-Hill; and a host of other relatives and friends; special thank you to 'A Caring ALF' and Melech Hospice, Teal Team. The family and friends are asked to meet at the graveside for the service on Friday.
