Obituary

Annie Ree Palmer, lovingly known as “Silky Slim,” was born on February 12, 1947, in Quincy, Florida. She peacefully departed this life surrounded by the love and memories of family and friends who cherished her deeply. Annie was educated in the Hillsborough County School System and attended Middleton High School. She, and a group of friends started a social club called "The Smurfettes" (where her nickname began) was a non-profit group which held many activities and raised money for local charities for several years throughout 1990's. She also worked as seamstress at Martin’s Uniforms, where her hard work and skill were appreciated by many. “Silky Slim” was known for her warm spirit, joyful personality, and love for life. She enjoyed getting out and spending fun times with family and friends, especially brunches and lunches shared with loved ones. Annie was an avid Tampa Bay Buccaneers fan who faithfully watched the Bucs games, and she also loved keeping up with her favorite soap operas. In her spare time, she found joy in cooking and laughing while watching old- school comedy movies. Most importantly, Annie loved the Lord and faithfully attended church services every Sunday as a devoted member of New Salem Missionary Baptist Church.

She was preceded in love and legacy by her parents, Raymond and Mandy Palmer; and brother, Jerry Palmer.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories: her beloved son, Ronald Simmons; daughter, Cynthia (Simmons) Beane and Husband (Robert) grandchildren, Jessica Rife, Joshua Rife (wife Crystal Rife), Raymond Burden, Ariana Simmons, Briana Simmons, Ronald Simmons; great-grandchildren, Rose Rife, Alana Manyoma, Miah Hassan, Joell Cintron, Kaylynn Sullivan, Elias Simmons, Maliyah Vega, Gianni Vega, Anthony Richard, Kace Melton, Isabella Simmons, and a host of additional grandchildren. Annie also leaves behind her brother, Larry Palmer; aunt, Francis J. Smith; niece, Shirley Williams; cousins, Carolyn Blackmon, whom she loved as a sister, and Angela Gaudette, daughter of Carolyn Blackmon, along with a continued host of loving cousins. She also leaves behind her loving step-daughters, Linda Aikens Simmons, and Bridgett Simmons; and a host of great-grandchildren; loving goddaughter, Twila Daniels; and her devoted best friend and sister in love, Jackie Stokes. Annie Ree Palmer “Silky Slim” will forever be remembered for her laughter, her love of family, her faith, and the joy she brought to everyone around her. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
