Memorial Service for Mrs. Annie Maude Tate of Lakeland, Florida, will be held Saturday, March 15, 2014, 11:00 a.m., at Aikens Funeral Home Chapel, 2708 E. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.,Mr. Robert Clayton, officiating. A former Tampa resident Annie Maude (Johnson) Tate, 72, died March 6, 2014, in Lakeland, Florida. Annie was born August 16, 1941 in Tampa, Florida to the late K.D. and Willie Anna (Evans) Johnson. She attended Middleton Senior High School and was married to the late Woodrow Tate of Norwalk, Connecticut. She migrated north to Connecticut for 15 years, prior to moving back home to Tampa, and finally settling in Lakeland, Florida. Anne, as she was affectionately called, enjoyed bargain shopping at the bay area flea markets, gardening in the yard, and taking care of the disabled and elderly. Annie Tate was a Jehovah Witness and a devoted member of the South West Kingdom Hall of Lakeland, Florida. Anne was preceded in death by both her parents. She is survived by her three children, Tscharner (Johnson) Myrick, Woodrow 'Woody' Tate and Patsy R. Tate; grandchildren, Jason A. (Rhea), Brandi J. and T.C. Myrick; siblings, Laura F. (Johnson) Hicks, Oscar 'O.J.' Johnson, Kirk 'K.D.' Johnson and Della 'Melissa' (Johnson) Coleman; and host of nieces, nephews, cousins and very dear friends. The family and friends are asked to meet at the chapel on Saturday for the service.
