Obituary

Antionette Valencia McCaslin was born in Tampa, Florida on October 16, 1955, to parents Robert and Alma Johnson, Sr. She grew up in Thonotosassa, Florida, and was a proud 1973 graduate of King High School in Tampa. She lived a beautiful life that was full of kindness, love, laughter, and generosity. She cared deeply for her family and friends, especially her four children and five grandchildren, soon to be six. She genuinely enjoyed being around her family and would find any excuse for a family gathering. This was likely because of the large family she grew up with, which included her two sisters and three brothers and a large extended family of remarkably close aunts, uncles, and cousins who were all more like her siblings and parent figures.

Antionettes bright smile would light up any room she walked into, and her generous and caring spirit would fill any room with love. She enjoyed cooking and baking, and as a single mother, she passed that love of cooking down to her children as both a passion and a necessary skill for survival. Those who were blessed to know Antionette experienced her spirit of generosity, which was never limited by her means. Her heart was big, and her kindness knew no boundaries. She would give her last dime to a stranger in need and would always do what she could to help. This included taking her granddaughters along with her as she passed out home-cooked holiday meals to people who were experiencing homelessness around Tampa. Antionette was a woman of faith who loved God and enjoyed gospel music every Sunday morning, especially any song with Yolanda Adams. She instilled those values in her children and grandchildren. She is now resting and no longer suffering.

She is rejoicing as she reunites with loved ones who have gone before her, including her father Robert Johnson Sr., mother Alma Johnson, sisters; Victoria and Brenda Johnson, and her mother-in-law, Christine McCaslin. She leaves behind children, Eugene McCaslin Jr., Ahmad McCaslin, Canaan McCaslin, and Raquel Bryant; grandchildren, Jorden, Amari, Chloe, Nyla, and Armani; niece, Olicia and children; nephew, Bobby and children; brothers Robert Johnson, Jr. and children, Glenn (Sylvia) Johnson and children, Gary (Annie) Johnson and children; a host of aunts and cousins, Geraldine, Beatrice, Joyce, Sharon, Valerie, John, Randy, Monica, and Veronica; and many cherished friends. We want her to know that she did an awesome job during her passage here on earth, and we wish her a safe journey as she transitions to the heavenly realm. We will always remember her smile, her warmth, her energy, her love for life, family, and friends.
