Homegoing Services for Mr. Arthur Louis Humphrey, of 1517 E. McBerry St., who passed away, Sunday, July 5, 2009, will be held Saturday, July 11th, 12:00 p.m., at Aikens Funeral home Chapel, 2708 E. Dr. MLK Jr. Blvd, with Minister James Anderson, officiating. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery. Louis was born in Brinson, Georgia, August 19, 1943. He attended schools in Bainbridge, Georgia and was a construction worker until he became disabled. At an early age he confessed Christ, was baptized and joined Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Bainbridge, Georgia. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Humphrey; father, Ivo Humphrey; sister, Lonie Humphrey; and brothers, George Henry Humphrey, Alger Gene Humphrey and David Curtis Humphrey. He leaves to cherish his memory: children, Jerline Crump, Sandra Humphrey, Elizabeth Humphrey, Latricia Humphrey, Robert Humphrey (Gloria) and Steven Humphrey; step-daughter: Luvenia Scott Turner (Darryl); grandchildren, Renita Houston, Marie Houston, LaShawnda Robinson, Leah Humphrey, Daisha Turner, William McQuay, David Humphrey, Shannon Humphrey, Corey Humphrey, Steven Humphrey Jr. and Demitrus Bailey; mother, Mrs. Daisy C. Humphrey; brother, Luther Pete Humphrey; sisters, Helen M. Handford, Gwendolyn L. Humphrey-Mills (Burn Jr.) and Gussie M. Rucker (Randy); nieces, Annie Pearl Davis, Evelyn Handford, Lavonda Humphrey, Sonia Humphrey, Nekeda Simmons, Roleisha Allen, Tonya Harris and Latasha Nicole Bell (Eddie); nephews, Andrew Handford, Connell Handford, Donald Handford, Anthony Cochran and Randy Rucker Jr.; cousins, Laura Bell, Jeanette Cummings, Willie Mae Jones, Nathaniel Glenn Sr. and Johnny Glenn; best friend, James Anderson; special friend, Johnny B. Williams; and a host of other sorrowing relatives and friends. The remains will repose at Aikens Funeral Home Friday, from 5 to 8 p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the Chapel on Saturday at 11:45 p.m. for the service.
