Asbury Broadnax
Iii
May 22, 1944 – July 21, 2025
It is with heavy hearts, yet with the profound hope of eternal life in Christ, that we announce the homegoing of our beloved Asbury Broadnax III, who entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior on July 21, 2025, at the age of 81. Born on May 22, 1944, he lived a life marked by unwavering courage, selfless service, and an unshakeable faith that touched countless souls. As a young man, Asbury Broadnax III answered the call of duty, serving his country with extraordinary valor during the Vietnam War. A decorated veteran, he earned the Double Bronze Star and Purple Heart for his bravery on Hamburger Hill, where he risked his own life to save others. His heroism on the battlefield was a testament to the strength and compassion that defined him—qualities rooted in the divine love he would later proclaim from the pulpit. Upon returning from the Army, Asbury Broadnax III dedicated his life to the ministry, becoming a Baptist Minister and shepherding flocks with the same fervor he showed in battle. He owned and drove an 18-wheeler truck for much of his life, traversing highways as a hardworking provider, all while carrying the Gospel in his heart. His passion for sharing Christ's love led him on multiple international missionary trips, where he built bridges of faith across cultures and continents. Always deeply involved in his church community, he was a pillar of spiritual guidance, often heard lifting fervent prayers that echoed the depths of his devotion to the Lord. Those who knew him best remember his joyful spirit and simple pleasures. He had a deep love for seafood and could always be counted on to joke about craving grits and eggs in the morning, bringing laughter and warmth to every gathering.
Above all, Asbury Broadnax III loved the Lord with all his heart, soul, and mind. His life was a living sermon, reminding us that true strength comes from above and that in serving others, we serve God Himself. Though we grieve his absence, we rejoice in the promise of Scripture: "Well done, good and faithful servant… Enter into the joy of your master" (Matthew 25:23). Asbury Broadnax III now rests in the arms of his Heavenly Father, free from pain and surrounded by the glory he preached about so passionately. His legacy of faith, bravery, and love will continue to inspire us until we meet again in that eternal home.
Asbury Broadnax III leaves behind his sons, his sister, brothers, nieces, nephews, uncles, and a plethora of loving family and friends. May the good Lord of all - comfort, bless, and sustain his family and friends during this time. In Jesus' name.
