Balford George Edwards, a beacon of love, wisdom, and courage, passed away peacefully on November 17, 2024, in Tampa, FL. Balford was born on June 11, 1947, in Portland, Jamaica. Balford's journey through life was marked by the joy he found in simple pleasures and the steadfast commitment he had to his community. Balford's early years in Jamaica laid the foundation for a life characterized by resilience and a love of learning. Balford Edwards was united in holy matrimony to the late Eula Mae Edwards for 30 years. After relocating to Tampa, he became an esteemed member of the City of Tampa workforce, where he dedicated many years of service. His colleagues remember him not just for his professionalism, but also for the warmth and guidance he provided daily. Outside of his professional life, Balford was an avid reader, always with a book in hand, expanding his knowledge and exploring new worlds through the written word. He also had a passion for cricket, a sport he played with enthusiasm and skill, reminiscent of his Caribbean roots. He was preceded in death by wife, Eula Mae Edwards; parents, Benjamin Edwards, and Zida Washington; daughter, Karen Edwards-Wright; brothers, Lionel Edwards, and Neville Edwards; sisters, Iola Edwards, and Hyacinth Edwards. Balford is survived by, son, Andrew Edwards (Debra); grandchildren, Anique Edwards, Georgia Edwards, Shannel Wright, Mellisa Wright, Victoria Wright, and Kimon Evans; great-grandchildren, Victoria Evans and Zion Evans; sister, Dunetha Gordon; nieces, Yvonne Burton, Jenny Lowe, Hortense Champanie- Fagan, Claudette Gordon-Williams, Althea Gordon, Janice Robinson, Ingrid Robinson, Tanya Edwards, and Shian Edwards; nephews, Delroy Edwards, Stafford Edwards, Lionel Gordon, Shaun Robinson, Aston Robinson, George Robinson, Hugh Tucker, Prince Edwards, Tyron Edwards, Micheal Samuels; cousins, Barry, Faith, Manley, Vivine, and Danny; special family and friends, Twitch, Elijah, Loxley, and Bebow. Along with a host of other family members and friends.
