Obituary

Barbara Brooks Jones, the daughter of the late Bessie and Oliver Brooks was born on March 2, 1930 in Enterprise, Alabama.During early elementary school years, Barbara attended Coffee County Training School in Enterprise, Alabama.She later relocated to New York then onto Tampa, FL with her first-born daughter. Barbara met Jesse Jones, Jr. in 1958, and was later united in holy matrimony on March 11, 1969. To their union four children were born (James, Juanita, Jessie, and Ricky). After retiring as a dry-cleaning presser for over 50 years Barbara loved going to church, singing in the Gospel Voices of Praise, still ironing for the family, cooking, and cleaning her yard. She was best known as being a loving neighbor to all. She was preceded in death by her son, James Arthur Jones; parents, Oliver and Bessie Brooks; brother, Elijah Brooks; sister, Mary Edna Brooks-Joiner; sister-in-law, Willie Mae Brooks. She leaves to cherish her precious memories with her husband, Jesse Jones, Jr.; children, Beverly F. Guiste (Simon), Juanita Jones-Archer, Jessie Jones III and Ricky Denard Jones Sr. (Angela); grandchildren, Ricky Denard Jones Jr., T'Oliver Lewis and Elijah Tillis; great-grandchildren, Rickelle Jones, Aryah Jones, Ricky Denard Jones, III, Jamie Jones and Zane Guiste; brother, Willie F. Brooks (Sallie); nieces, Alma Sue Brooks, Donna Tucker (Earnest), Sylvia Jackson, Melissa Clemons, LaShonda Tucker, ShaRonda Tucker, Jennifer Mairel and Nadine Guiste; nephews, Willie F. Brooks Jr., Clinton Mairel (Tomeeka) and Curtis Mairel (Angel); cousin, Oscar Brooks (Mary); god-children, Ernest McMichael, Tabatha Vickers, Tangela Miller (Ernie), Valerie Hills-Bethel (Corey), Arriana McMicheal; other relatives and friends; Joeann Vickers (James Earl), Thelma Watkins (Robert), Alice O'Neal, James Strothers, Otto Miller Sr, Eloise Tinsley, Yvonne Lynch (Tommy), Minnie Thomas, Gwendolyn Arnold, Shelia Soarrey (Greg), Karen Anderson, Harold Ellis, Armegene Moore and Louise Jones and family; special thanks to Pastor Webb and First Lady Webb; our church Family, Assisting Hands, Seasons Hospice, A Better Life Adult Daycare (Yumary Caremenate), Verizon Wireless and LogistiCare for her rides.
