Barbara was born on September 12, 1947. Barbara dedicated over 40 years of her career to education. Her passion for teaching led her to various roles, including a Paraprofessional at Sulphur Springs Elementary School, Student Affairs Office at Tampa Bay Tech High School and the Student Services Office at Erwin Technical Center. Throughout her career, she consistently supported students in making informed career decisions with a warm smile. She treated everyone with kindness, patience and understanding. Barbara, a devoted member of Oak Hill Missionary Baptist Church for many years, served faithfully in various capacities. She was the church clerk, led devotions, and was a member of the choir. An avid die-hard Buccaneers fan, she never missed a single game.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Milledge and Orpie Christian; husband, English Harris, Sr.; grandson, Alexander Chapman; sisters, Margery, Landie, and Cora Christian; brothers, Ugene, Sam, Walter, Frank, Joe, Moses, Cliford and Paul Christian.
She leaves cherished and fond memories with four devoted children, LaShawnda (Benjamin) Chapman, Angela Harris Johnson, Kitrina (Douglas) Bearden, and English (Gina) Harris, Jr.; grandchildren, Brandi, Michael, Kierra, Charlia, Darius, Jawaun, Rhiannon, and Charlesia Chapman, Angelica, Alicia, and Amanda Johnson, English III, Exzekiel, and Elgin Harris, Joshua, Briahna, and Tyahnie Bearden; 21 great-grandchildren; devoted brother, MC Christian; three devoted sisters, Beatrice, Carolene, Tammie (Robert); nieces, Sonya and Willie, Pam, Latoya, Kyonda, Tereka and Zarryl, Tashay Lee and Davarus, Darlene, Theresa and Dambreville, Patricia and Levon, Karen and Roosevelt, Katrina and Cedric, Talisa, Teresa, Shanon, Kim, Jade, Faith, and Dedra; nephews, Charles and Lydia, Sam and Jill, Ira, Clifford, Jr., Paul, Clifford, William, Ricky and Patricia, Calvin and Shay, Tavian, Tony, Willie, Blake, Jr., Andrew, Anthony, Sherman, Kenny, and Eric; Norman, Sr., Brian, Sr., and Ahmed; sisters-in-law, Mattie, Erma, Carriebell, Joann, and Denise; brothers-in-law, Blake, Sr., and Robert; goddaughters, Samantha, and Teahni, Godson, Reggie and over 100 great-great nieces and nephews; special friends, Yvonne Wright, Evelyn Perkins and Edd Henry; the Sulphur Springs Community and a host of friends.
