Obituary

Celebration of Life Services for Sister Beatrice "T" (Snook) Oliver, Jesus called her home on Monday, December 6, 2010, at the Temple Terrace Lifepath Hospice House. Funeral will be held on Saturday, December 18, 2010 at 11:00 a.m., at 32nd Avenue Church of Christ, 2918 32nd Avenue with Rev. Roland Oliver, officiating. Interment will be at Rest Haven Memorial Cemetery. Sister Beatrice "T" Oliver was born June 28, 1915 in Unadilla, Georgia to the late Mr. William C. Thomas and Mrs. Minnie Wimbley Thomas. A native of Unadilla but she moved to Florida as a young adult, where she attended local public Schools. Beatrice was a loyal member of the Lily Security Benefit Association. She was employed with the Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners, Seniors in Service program as a foster grandparent for over 17 years. Prior, to her services as a foster grandparent, she was a driver for the Hillsborough County's Senior Program (SNAP) delivering food to those who were homebound and unable to get out. In addition to following her natural need to help others. Beatrice had an entrepreneurial spirit, which included neighborhood endeavors such as selling dinners, frozen cups, candied apples, pronto pups, sweet potato pies and owning Oliver's CafAC.. She leaves to cherish precious memories with her two daughters, Veronica O. Nelson and devoted friend, E. Rufus Gerald, Jr. and Debra O. Porter and husband, Henry W. Porter, Jr.; 1 sister, Carrie Hill of Tampa, Fl; 6 grandchildren, Marcellas Lyles, Jr., Petel H. Rolle and fiancAC.e, Omari Groom, Vanessa Tookes and husband, Eric, Cedric G. Hall, ZaTavia Porter and fiancAC.e, Vincent Law and Dana R. Manning, all of Tampa, Fl; 6 great grandchildren, Jasniah Groom, Jamal Groom, Mckenzie Tookes, Reign S. Hall, Shaniah Law and Jalen Law, all of Tampa, FL; 3 nephews, Rev. Roland Oliver, Sr. of Palmetto, FL, Carl W. Jenkins, Rochester, NY and Everett Hill and wife, Yama, Charlotte, NC; 3 nieces, Vera O. Hicks, Olivia H. Childs and Sharon Hill; cousins, Faye G. Everett, Chicago, IL and Nathaniel Newton, Tampa, FL; and a host of cousins, great nieces and nephews; special friends, Willie S. Tharpe and family, Elizabeth Kendricks and family, Kim Hazelton and family, Dana Goldblatt, Pamela Johnson and family, Dorothy Beets and family, Linda Reddick and family, Susan Hardwick and family and Albert Singleton and family; and a host of friends in the neighborhood. The viewing will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Friday from 5-8 p.m. Family and friends are asked to meet at the church on Saturday at 10:45 a.m.
