Homegoing service for Sister Bennie L. Hines of Tampa who passed away Friday, March 7, 2014, will be held Saturday, March 15th, 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church, 4008 C.P. Epps Dr. (Cayuga), Rev. Michael White, pastor officiating. Interment will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery. Bennie was born January 7, 1934 to the late Ben Borden and Leola Bryant in Tallahassee, Florida. She attended the public schools of Leon County. She accepted Christ at an early age and joined Philadelphia Church in Tallahassee, Florida. After moving to Tampa, Florida she united with Mt. Olive M.B. Church, under the leadership of Rev. C.P. Epps. She remained a faithful member until several years ago when her health began to decline. Bennie enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family and friends. Bennie was preceded in death by her parents, 2 sisters, 1 brother, 1 grandson, 1 granddaughter and 1 great granddaughter. She leaves to cherish her fond and loving memories: 5 sons, Edwin Gay (Deborah), Johnny Gay, Jr., David Gay (Daisy), all of Tampa and Terry Gay of Melbourne, FL; 4 daughters, Vivian Gay Thompson, Marva Gay, Teresa Gay Ingram (Kenneth) and Ellen Hines, all of Tampa, Florida; 27 grandchildren; 66 great grandchildren; sisters, Bobbie Phillips, Mattie Bush (Calvin), Teresa Tolliver and Viola Hightower; brothers, Edward Bryant (Betty), Cocoa Beach, FL, Jewell Border (Bonnie), Melbourne, FL; a host of other relatives and special friends. The visitation will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Friday, March 14th, from 5 to 8 p.m. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the church on Saturday for the service.
