A celebration of life services for Mr. Bernard Malphus of Tampa who passed away on Wednesday, July 23, 2014. The memorial service will be conducted on Saturday, August 2, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Allen Temple African Methodist Episcopal Church, 2101 Lowe Street, with Reverend David Green officiating. Mr. Bernard Malphus was a native of Tampa. He attended Blake High School and worked for Malphus and Sons General Contractor, Inc. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Malphus Jr. and Evangeline Malphus; sister Ernestine Thomas, brothers; Curtis Malphus, Calvin Malphus and Lawrence Malphus Sr. He leaves to cherish his memory a caring and devoted companion, Judy Johnson; sister, Elizabeth Booker (Samuel) Dallas, Texas; brothers, Wilbert Malphus, Sr. (Patricia), Clearance Malphus (Gloria) Toledo, Ohio and Milton Malphus; aunt; Pearl Hargrove, nieces; Rita Parson (Kenneth) Arlington, Texas, Hope Brown Columbia, South Carolina, Rochell Small Columbia, South Carolina, LaVonne Nelson (Twain), Sabrina Malphus, Victoria Malphus, Patrice Weatherspoon Columbus, Ohio (James), Normetha Malphus; nephews, Russel Bradley, Owings Mill, Maryland, Kent Brown (Doris) Columbia, South Carolina, Stephan Booker (Deborah) Grand Prairie, Texas, Wilbert Malphus, Jr., Ali Malphus and Lawrence Malphus, Jr.; and a host of grand nieces and nephews, cousins and devoted friends. The family and friends are asked to meet at the church on Saturday for the service.
