Obituary

A homegoing celebration for Mother Bernice Lee Jackson of Tampa, Florida who passed away on Saturday, September 24, 2016 will be held Saturday, October 1st, 2:00 p.m. at Cathedral of Faith Church, Inc. 6304 N. 30th Street, Apostle James H. Howell, pastor, officiating. The interment will be in Orange Hill Cemetery. Bernice Lee Jackson was born January 3, 1923 to the late Jeffery and Susie Lee in Starks, Florida. She married James (Andrew) Jackson. They moved to Ocala, Florida (Zuber) in 1938. There were 14 children born to this union. She was a housewife of 24 years. She divorced in 1968 and moved to Tampa with 10 children. She worked at the Swenden House Restaurant for 5 years part time and a housekeeper and nanny for the Hobbs family and that's where she retired from. She treated each of her children individually with special attention and care. She was the world's greatest cook to our family; if you had one of her pound cakes, sweet potato pies or collard greens you knew it was good. She joined St. Matthews M.B. Church from there to Cathedral of Faith Church, Inc. She was the oldest member and charter member of Cathedral of Faith Church, Inc. and member of the mother's board and usher board. She also loved to cook for the mother's ministry. She was preceded in death by her daughters, Helen Mitchell and son-in-law, Robert and Eleonor Beauford; son, Louis Jackson; brothers, Oliver, Wilmar, Willie, Ellis, Jessie, Homer and Alex; sisters, Ida, Sarah, Carrie and Lottie; grandchildren, Nekita Harris, Larry Jackson, Jr., Andrea Jackson and Baby Isiah. She leaves to cherish her precious memories with her children, James Jackson (Christine), Larrie Jackson (Valerie), Zarah 'Lee Andrew' Jackson, Leslie Jackson (Sandra), Gregory Jackson (Harriette), Issac Jackson (Gwen), Pauline Bacon (Isaiah), Carolyn Jackson, Roxie Jackson, Cheryl Leonard (Robin) and Valarie A. Jackson-Schlosser; son-in-law, James Beauford; daughter-in-law, Peggy S. Jackson; grandchildren, Susan (Cookie), Elma, Edward (Bruce), Robin, Gloria, Peyton, Teresca, Terrance, Joe, Larmern, Gregory G. Jr., Genel, Dana, Ketner, Laticia, Tommie, Rodney, Jessica, Mary, Andrea, Ashley, Cieria, Christina, Ondrea, Natasha, Courtney, Crystal, Gregory (Tyler), Amos, Christopher, Gregory Green, Isaac, Jr., Lesley Caitlin, Temaka, James B. Jr., and Marcus,; a host of great-grandchildren 5 generations at 105; nieces, Vera, Lorriane (Lumpy), Evon, Praticia, Pricilla, Bernice, Evalee ,Stella, Mae Olive, Betty, Eunice and Joyce; nephews, Raymond, Oliver, Golden (Trix) and General; cousin, Cleo McGriff; dear friends, mother Katie Allen, Carrie Worthy and Alfredia Levin; Mother's Ministry; and a host of other relatives and friends. The visitation will be held at Cathedral of Faith Church on Friday, September 30th from 5:00-7:30 p.m. The family will receive friends from 6:00-7:00 p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the church on Saturday for the service.
