Obituary

Homegoing Celebration for Mrs. Bertha Mae Johnson of Tampa who passed away, Sunday, March 10, 2013, will be held Saturday, March 16th, 1:00 p.m., at New Progress Missionary Baptist Church, 3307 E. Shadowlawn Ave., Rev. E.J. Williams, pastor officiating. Interment will be in Orange Hill Cemetery. Bertha Mae Johnson was born Septemeber 29, 1922 in Worth County, Georgia to the late Mr. Isaaom and Mrs. Beatrice Sherman. She had lived in Tampa, Florida for the past 14 years. She accepted Jesus Christ in her life and was a member of Mt. Grove M.B. Church in Oakfield, Georgia until she became ill. She enjoyed fishing, cooking, visiting and having fun with her family and friends in Oakfield and Warwick, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her parents, Isaasom and Beatrice Sherman, husband, William H. Johnson, Sr., children, William H. Johnson, Jr., Carolyn Johnson and Irabee Johnson, brother, Theo Graham and sisters, Daisey Jones, Annie Mae Sington, Marie Sanders and Ossie Smith. She leaves to cherish her loving memories: 2 sons, Johnnie Johnson and Curtis Johnson (Sarah), of Americus, GA; 5 daughters, Wilhelmenia Batchelor (Caleb), Earnestine Hilton, Rhudean Perkins, all of Tampa, FL, Joyce Ann Johnson, Boston, MA and Linda Johnson, Lake City, FL; grandchildren, Regina, Monica, Cynthia, Felecia and Reginald Johnson, Terron Alexander, Eddie Kennedy, Quintella Brown, Kenyatta and Janga Johnson, Trache Hoskins and Rodney and Charlezel Johnson; sister, Maxidene Sherman; a host of great grandchildren, great great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and special friends, Willie Mae Walker, and all of her many friends in Oakfield and Warwick, Georgia. The visitation will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Thursday, March 14th, from 6 to 8 p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the church on Saturday for the service.
