Mrs. Bertha Powell was born in Ridgeway, South Carolina, on June 14, 1935, to the late Blake Harris, Sr., and Rosa Harris. Bertha attended public schools in Ridgeway, South Carolina. She later moved to Tampa, Florida where she was employed in the hotel and food industry.

She gave her life to Christ and was a member of Oak Hill Missionary Baptist Church. Bertha loved cooking, sewing, and spending time with family.

Bertha was preceded in death by her parents: Blake Harris, Sr., and Rosa Harris; husband, E.W. Powell; brothers, Willie, English, and Otis Harris.

She leaves to cherish her memories: stepchildren, Sylvester Powell (Kay), and Clarence Powell (Gail); brother, Blake Harris, Jr. (Ermie); sister, Mattie Johnson; aunt, Nancy Stone; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
