A Celebration of Life for Mrs. Bessie R. Nelson of Tampa who departed this life on May 26, 2015, will be held Saturday, May 30, 2015, 11:00 a.m. at New Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 2511 E. Columbus Dr., Rev. Larry L. Roundtree, II Pastor, officiating. The interment will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Bessie R. Nelson was born in Bascom, Florida on July 3, 1934. Bessie was educated at Lake County Training Center Leesburg, FL. She was a retiree of the Greater Tampa Urban League, and a devoted member of the New Mount Zion M.B. Church, where she actively served as a member of the Voices of Praise, Deaconess, Senior Mission, Benevolent Board, Pulpit Aide Board, and Bereavement Ministries. Bessie was preceded in death by her parents, Jeremiah Leeks and Allie-Bloom Bowers Leeks; her husband the late Deacon Walter J. Nelson and 7 (seven) siblings. She leaves to cherish her memories with her loving and devoted children, Marissa Godbolt, Kathy Campbell (Marvin), Al Copeland, Jr. (Felecia), Atlanta, GA., Alfredia Mulkey (Ronald), Walter J. Nelson, Jr. (Tina) and Michael Nelson (Peretta); grandchildren, Joe and Wyndel Godbolt, Kandace Johnson (Dr. Jonathan), Zoie Mulkey, Brandi, Kristen and Ryan Felder; great grandchildren, Jasmine Fleming, Porsche, Frederick and Loretta Mouling, Tara and Dava Leeks, Ethan and Basha Johnson, Jayden and Machi Felder; great great grandchild, Ayden Harper; sisters and brother, Marie Russ, Courtney Leeks and Barbara Wright; sisters-in-law, Celestine Martin and Juanita Jacobs; nieces and nephews, Gwen McNeal, Willie Russ, Jr., Patricia Clayton, Debra Toombs, Nicole and Shawna Leeks, Kitty Oliver, Estelle Johnson, Lucritia "Clee" and Kight; god-daughters, Bessie Blue Thomas, Bessie, Phyllis and Melissa Jones; and a host of other family and friends. The visitation for Mrs. Bessie R. Nelson will be held on Friday evening, May 29th at New Mt. Zion MB Church, 2511 E. Columbus Dr. from 6 to 8 p.m. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the church on Saturday for the service.
