Obituary

Homegoing celebration for Mrs. Bettie Nell Daniels of Tampa, FL who passed away Saturday, April 2, 2016 will be held Saturday, April 9th, 2:00 p.m. at Aikens Funeral Home Chapel, 2708 E. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. Rev. Quantai Washington, officiating. The interment will follow. Bettie Nell Daniels was born on December 11, 1945 in Jackson, MS. She was the youngest daughter of her loving parents, Mrs. Terlena James Daniels and the late Mr. Eddie Lee Daniels. Bettie was educated in the public schools of Jackson, MS; completing her primary education at Brinkley High School in 1963. Immediately after graduating, Bettie relocated to New York City and spent her early adulthood forging her way in the world. Bettie married Alonzia Jones Giles in 1967 and gave birth to her one and only child, Charlotte Anita Stanford. During her early years in New York City, Bettie used her entrepreneurial spirit in several different ventures and was very successful. She traveled extensively, fulfilling a lifelong dream of being an intercontinental traveler. Family illnesses would return Bettie to her hometown of Jackson, MS in 1988. After the passing of her father, Bettie became a devoted caregiver to her mother. She would split her time between New York City, Jackson, MS, and Tampa, FL, where she would spend extensive quality time with her only grandchild, Charde' Quinnae Alexia Sylvester, who she lovingly called 'CQ'. Bettie was preceded in death by her father, Eddie Lee Daniels; her brother Johnnie Daniels; sisters Helen Daniels and Dorothy Brown; her nieces Yolanda Thompson Ball and Charlotte Thompson. She leaves the following to cherish the memories of her loving and outgoing spirit: her husband Alonzia; daughter Charlotte Anita; mother Mrs. Terlena Daniels of Jackson, MS; sister Irma Williams of San Francisco, CA; brothers Spencer (Sandy) Daniels of Oakland, CA and H. Paul Daniels of Irving, TX; uncles Tommy (Maggie) James and William (Claudine) James, all of Jackson, MS; cousins Eric (Sara), Vincent, Malcolm (Latrisha), Brenda, Kitty, Daisy and Donald; Brother in law Allen Davis and Sister in Law Jennifer Merrick; nephews and nieces David, Jason, Jamal, Angelia (Anthony); Sharon, Susan, Aaron, Larry, Tina (Mark), Yanika, Paula (Jerry), Anita, Alice, Calvin, and Grace. Great-nephews, Tyrone, Duane, Andrew (Brittany), Antoine, D'Andre', Kembrick, Jr.; nieces, Serina, Shanquetta, Shameka, Emmanuel, Ciara; three devoted friends, Ruth, Michelle and Helen; along with a multitude of mourning extended family members and friends. The visitation will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Friday, April 8th from 5 to 8 p.m. The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the chapel on Saturday for the service.
