A homegoing celebration for Mrs. Bettie J. Henry 'Betty Jean' of Tampa, who passed away on Thursday, May 12, 2016, will be held on Thursday, May 19th, at 1:00 p.m. at Greater New Salem P.B. Church, 1605 N. Nebraska Ave, Elder Theodis Lane, pastor; Rev. Louise Gentle, pastor of One Made Whole Bible Church, officiating. The interment will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Mrs. Bettie J. Henry was born on September 19, 1934 in Tampa, Florida to Willie and Dorothy Hammonds. She attended Hillsborough County schools. She attended Greater New Salem Primitive Baptist Church, as a Sunday School Teacher. Mrs. Henry was retired from Hillsborough County Children and Family Services, as Supervisor at Lake Magdalene Juvenile Detention Center with 32 years of service. She was a member of the Rosewood family. She was called to her heavenly mansion and there is no more sorrow and no more pain of this life, every day will be joy, peace in the glory of God. Mrs. Henry is survived by her children Kevin and Nicholas Henry; siblings, Craig Hammonds and wife, Shirley, Dexton Frost and wife, Harriett of DC, Stephanie Hammonds and special friend, Don Curtis, Tonia and Nina Hammonds, Kim Eubanks and husband, Dennis of Illinois; grandchildren, Imani, Quedirah, Lounieha, Jahman and Deandre Cromartie, Jalisa and Stephan Campos, Breanah Willis, Kelis Shepherd, Stephan Willis, Jr., and Zyriona Burton, nieces, Abriel and Tekoah Hammonds, Marissa Richmond and husband, Dorsey, Shantrisha and Kukneesha Borders, Sylvia Willis, Cindy Robinson, Keria Hudson, Niya Spells, Jasmine Meredith and Connie Govantes; nephews, Jamar Eubanks and wife, MeMe, Kibwe, Darwin and Malcolm Frost, Marquise and Jarvis Hammonds, Tyrone Govantes, Jordan, Josey, Dallas, Marquise, Jr. and Mario Hammonds, Jamar, Jr. and Caleb Eubanks, Darshae Spells, James Willis, Maurice and Sherman Burton and Judea Escalante; godchild, Desiree Wells; Rosewood family; special friend, Deacon Clay Armstrong and other relatives and friends. The visitation will be held on Wednesday from 3:00-4:00 p.m. at Aikens Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church. The family and friends are asked to meet at the church on Thursday for the service.
