Ms. Betty was born on December 7, 1947, in Tampa, Florida to James Hosey and Minnie Lee Gaynor Hosey. Betty attended schools in Hillsborough County, Florida and Sumter County, South Carolina. Betty retired from University Hospital in 2014 before relocating to Augusta, Georgia. Betty enjoyed spending time at the senior community center, listening to music and dancing. She was a member of the line dancing group Smooth Etc. and the Red Hat Society. Betty departed this life on Monday, September 8, 2025.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Burnett; parents, James Hosey and Minnie Lee Gaynor Hosey; sisters, Mamie B. Gallmon, Lillie Mae Jones, Mary Frances Underwood and Deborah Clarke; brothers, Wiley B. Jones, Jr. and James Lester Hosey; nieces, Jackie Herron and Joy Sutherland-Foushee; nephews, Larry Jones, Jonathan Nappier, and Dennis Bush.

She leaves behind many who will cherish great and loving memories: sisters, Mae Johnson (Calvin) and Cora Yopp; brother, Michael Hosey; nieces, Nakisha Adegbayibi (Jamal), Maedean Johnson (TK), Daphne Putnam, Matilda Renee Payne, Melissa McCalla (Sean), Debra Hosey (Jerry), Paula Mathis, Deborah Wilson, Joan Nappier, Michele Hosey, Arquella Howell, Nicole Taylor, and Kayla Clarke (Erica); nephews, James Sirmon (Lillie), Harold Nappier, A.J. Jones, Jr. (Tynae), James Hosey (Dafney), Bennie Green, William Johnson (Demeka), Robert Jones, Eric Gallman, Ronald Gallmon (Janice), Isaac Gallmon, Leonard Gallmon, Tony Hosey (Evette), Gary Herron, Michael Herron, and Antiwon Herron; stepsons, Robert Burnett, Jr. and Jamin Smith; cousins, the Gaynor Family, Jones Family (Georgia, Florida, Pennsylvania), and Payne Family; friends, Jacqueline Atkins, Dee Collier, Lilly Walker, Rena Cooper, Lynn Reddy, and Debbie Reddy along with a host of other sorrowing relatives and friends.
