Betty was born on November 18, 1932 in Tampa, Florida, to Rosa Bell James and Thomas Barr. She was a member of Greater New Salem Primitive Baptist Church where she served until her illness. Bettys accolades include her membership to the Eastern Star Organization. She worked at the VA Hospital until her retirement. She was preceded in death by her mother, Rosa Bell James; father, Thomas Barr; brother, James Barr; daughter, Joann Barr; and sons, Larry Barr and Jackie Barr. She leaves precious memories with her husband, Willie Chester Jr.; children, Ronnie Barr, Shirley Queen, Author Barr, Pamela Green, James Smith, and Richard Williams; 20 grandchildren; 50+ great grandchildren; brother, Samuel Barr; sisters-in-law, Shirley Thomas, Dorothy Franklin, Delphine Mottey (Jack), Barbara Smith (Roderick); brothers-in-law, Robert Chester, and Ernest Chester (Karan), and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
