Mrs. Betty Denson passed away peacefully among family at Tampa General Hospital on Friday, January 7, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. She was born in Crisp County, Georgia on October 17, 1942, and was the youngest daughter of George and Daisy Jackson of Crisp County, Georgia. She moved to Tampa at the age of five, where she grew up and attended local schools. Betty retired from Tampa General Hospital after working 25 years in the Dietary Department. Betty was a member of New Birth M.B. Church. Betty enjoyed traveling and watching her favorite football team, the Buccaneers, play football. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eddie Lee Denson, Sr., and daughter, Pamela Jackson. Betty is survived by Lottie Pickens of Tampa, a lovingly devoted sister that raised her as her own child from five years of age, one devoted brother, James Jackson (Thelma) of Miami, FL; one daughter, Iris Telhaoui (Fateh) of West Sussex, England; two sons; Eddie Denson, Jr. of St. Pete and Christopher Denson of Dade City; three grandsons, Brandon Deme of West Sussex, England, Cameron Denson and Herbert Denson; three granddaughters, Skye Morton of West Sussex, England, Kerria Denson and Catera Denson; seven nieces, Gwendolyn Montgomery (Sidney) of Atlanta, GA, Rebecca Simmons (John), Iona Simmons, Shandra Jackson-Bohley (John) all of Tampa, JaGail Jackson, Eulanda Jackson and Janell Jackson Lefebvre (William) all of Miami; four great nephews, Walter Pickens, James Pickens of Tampa, Frederick Pickens of Miami, and Edward Montgomery of Atlanta, GA; seven great nieces, Debbie Pickens, Brenda Pickens, Kecia Graves (Lonnie) all of Tampa, Colette Montgomery of Atlanta, GA, Lynelle Jackson, Venice Jackson, Yvette Lefebrev all of Miami; devoted first cousin, Rev. Nathaniel and family from Cordele, GA. Betty had lots of friends, and we could not list them all, but we would be remiss if we did not mention Joyce Anderson, Maurice and Cassandra Tucker, Flossie Weeks, Theodore Williams, Willie Mae Sanders, Shirley McPherson, Alma Harris, Clayton Anderson, Thelma Anderson, the Dietary Department of Tampa General Hospital and a host of other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends on Friday, January 14, 2011, at New Birth M.B. Church from 5-7 p.m. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the church on Saturday by 12:45 p.m.
