Betty Jo Hayes, affectionately known as "B.J.", was born on October 31, 1938, in Tampa, Florida, to the late Orlando Hayes, Sr. and Lula May Hayes. Betty was a woman of many passions, she had a deep love for fashion, a beautiful voice for singing, a joyful spirit for shopping and a talent for cooking that brought warmth and comfort to all who gathered at her table. She was a devoted and faithful member of Heritage Christian Community Baptist Church, where her presence and service were deeply valued. Her faith, kindness and strength left a lasting impression on all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Orlando Hayes, Sr. and Lula May Hayes; brothers, Orlando Hayes, Jr. and James Hayes; and sister, Jacqueline Hayes.

She leaves cherished memories to her nieces, Valena Williams, Vanessa Hayes, and Lottie Hayes; nephews, Lloyd Williams, Domonique Hayes, Antonio Scott, Eric Hayes, and Charles Hayes. She also leaves to mourn her passing, her church members, and a host of special friends and neighbors.
