A Homegoing Service for Mr. Bobby Dean Johnson of Tampa, Florida who passed away on September 5, 2021, will be held on Saturday, September 18th 11:00 a.m. at Aikens Funeral Home, 2708 E. Martin Luther King Blvd., Minister Thomasina Washington-Scott, officiating. The interment will follow at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL.
Bobby was born December 19, 1953 in Edison, Georgia to Mr. Smith and Annie Bell Johnson. Bobby was baptized and accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at a young age. His maternal grandmother, Beauty Boyd took the grandchildren to Hopewell Baptist Church in Ocala, Florida under the leadership of Reverend McDonald. Later, the family moved to Tampa, where Bobby attended schools in Hillsborough County.
Immediately after High School, Bobby joined the United States Army on October 31, 1972 and graduated from Basic Training at Fort Benning, Georgia. He continued his Advanced Individual Training (AIT) at Fort Jackson, South Carolina. He completed his military obligation and received an Honorable Discharge. When Bobby left the military, he pursued a new mission working several years at Lee & Salter Construction company in Lakeland, Florida. He was respectful, with a calm, caring and gentle demeanor. He never forgot how to love and respect others. Bobby was an active member of New Testament Church of God under the leadership of Pastor Huggins in Port Charlotte, Florida.
He was preceded in death by his loving and devoted mother, his devoted and loving sister, Sandra Johnson; step-fathers, Thomas Washington, Sr., and Ike Williams.
He leaves to cherish his memory; his loving, devoted and caring baby sister Thomasina Washington Scott; nieces, Kimberly Johnson (Kenny) and Valencia Fails; nephews, Corey Johnson (Andrea), Dwayne "Nuke" Scott Jr (Nikki), Samuel Vincent Law, Eric Law and Joshua Scott; great nieces and nephews; Eric Dukes (Amanda), Corey Johnson Jr, Travis Turner, Shyleah Hayes, Courtney Johnson, Christian Scott, Shaniah Law, Jayden Law, Andre Johnson, Antwon Johnson, and Regan Scott; great-great niece Alaiya Dukes.
The visitation will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Friday from 4:00-8:00 p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the chapel on Saturday, September 18 for the service. We are following the CDC guidelines.
