Mr. Booker Taliaferro Washington was born on March 14, 1937, in Chatom, Alabama. He was raised in a close-knit community where, he attended Koenton High School. Booker proudly served his country in the United States Army, dedicating 24 years of honorable service before retiring as a master sergeant. His military career reflected his discipline, leadership, and unwavering commitment to duty. He was a devoted member of the masonic order, where he found brotherhood and purpose. In his leisure time, Booker enjoyed fishing, a pastime that brought him peace and joy. Booker was a deacon, the chairman of the trustee board, and the Sunday school superintendent.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Clymogline Washington; parents, Arthella Washington and Willie Lee Green; grandson, Chris Graves; and sisters, Agnes Washington and Frankie Lee Green.
He leaves cherished memories to his sons, Booker T. Washington (Chathay) and Rodrick Washington (Twanda); daughters, Marilyn Washington, Casandra Washington and Gloria Walden (Johnny); grandchildren, Terriance Washington, Kidrick Walden (Omeka), Decca Howard, Demetric Kennedy, Andre Howard (Tawana), Booker Washington III, Devin Kennedy, Kimberly Walden, Tiffany Washington, Amber Washington, Marcus Washington (Tamisha), Janae Washington; great-grandchildren, Jocelyn Graves, Dominic Kennedy, Kidija Walden, Jacobi Kennedy, Janiya Kennedy, Kianna Walden, Kennedy Barnes, Macyn Washington, Ziyann Washington, Savannah Lucas, Guadalupe Davila, Leah Washington and Namiko Lucas; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends to numerous to name; great-great-grandson, Kaleb Barnum; sister-in-law, Vivian Fox-Graham; devoted niece, Rosalee Fox; goddaughters, Annette Howard and Phyllis Dunn; godson, Dea. Aaron Berry; and special children, Vincent Samuel, Too Smooth and Clee Kight; devoted, caring companion, Essie Merritt; and his loving New Mt. Zion Church family.
Booker will be remembered as a faith-filled, generous, intelligent, and loving man. His presence, wisdom, and kindness touched the lives of many, leaving behind a lasting legacy of strength and compassion.
