Obituary

Homegoing celebration for Mother Brenda Joyce Saffold Coney who passed away Sunday, September 7, 2014 will be held Saturday, September 20th, 11:00 a.m. at The Center of Manifestation Church, 3102 E. Lake Avenue, Apostle Mark T. Jones, pastor with Rev. Dr. B.R. Fulton, pastor of Mt. Moriah P.B. Church, officiating.Interment will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Brenda Joyce Saffold Coney (affectionately known as "Joyce") was born September 1, 1951 to Deacon Ulysess Saffold and the late Margurite Everett. She transformed to her external rest on Sunday September 7, 2014 at 63 years of age. Mrs. Brenda Coney attended Hillsborough County Public Schools and was a graduate of Howard W. Blake High School, Class Of 1970. Over the years, she found employment at GTE as an operator and Chubb & Sons Lanier Worldwide. She was employed at J.P. Morgan Chase at her demise. Mother Coney accepted Christ at an early age and joined the Greater Mt. Moriah Primitive Baptist Church family in the early 60's. She was an active member of the Mother's Board and a faithful member of Sunday school class #2. She was also a loyal member of the sanctuary choir where she sang herself to glory. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Ethel Brown and Macon Saffold, Edna Barnette and William Campbell; sister, Hariena; niece and nephew, Michelle and Kevan; aunts, Mary and Edith; uncles, Theoplius, Ponda Lee, and Charles; mother-in-law for 30 years, Birdie Mae Coney; sisters-in-law: Eunice and Lydia; brother-in-law: Jimmy (Helen); and nephew, Michael. She leaves to cherish her loving memories with, husband, Charles Coney, Sr., parents, Deacon Ulysess Saffold (Ophelia); daughters: Deana (Clyde), ChaBrenda, and Christy; sons: Charles Jr. (Jamie) and Charlton (Natavia), Daryl, and Corey (Ramona); grandchildren: CJ, Malcolm, Keyanna, Keyon, Charles III, Shaniah, Diarra, Jyhaira, Caaden, KingCameron, and Chaison; sisters: Elizabeth Ann, Linda (Raymond), and Regina (Lavern); brothers, Curtis (Loretta), Manzy (Debra), Delton, and Dwight (Shelby); brother-in-law, Ernest (Chloe); aunts, Elnora and Mildred; uncle, Julius; nieces, Hariena, Paige, Lamesha, Banesha, Brittany, Shemelia, Linda, Rosalinda, Tonya, Lisa and Dorrie; nephews: Mosandto, Kenneth Jr, Manzy Jr, Rowshawn, Gerald, Terrell, Clemon, Jimmy III, Lynn, Larry, Ernest Jr., and Codrin; special extended children and grandchildren, India, Tamika, Kira, Tranette, Malik, Maddie, Daland and Domenick; special lifelong friends, Roslyn Larry, Ruthie Sampson, Donna Russell, Jeanette Hooks, and a host of great nieces, nephews, other relatives, co-workers, friends, and church family. The visitation will be held at Mt. Moriah P.B. Church on Friday September 19th from 5 to 8 p.m. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the church on Saturday for the service.
