Brenda Thompson was an educator and principal for Hillsborough County Public Schools for over 30 years. She loved sports, especially the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Tampa Bay Rays as well as the South Florida Bulls. Family always came first, and she loved them dearly. Going to the casino was one of her favorite things to do, along with traveling to visit family, playing BINGO, cooking, and eating home-cooked meals. She was a member of St. Peter Claver Catholic Church, where she taught CCD classes for years.

Brenda was preceded in death by her parents, Matthew and Tressa Dennard; husband, Hugh Bernard Thompson, Sr.; brothers, Melvin Dennard Sr., Sheldon Dennard, sisters: Shirley Dennard Watson, Audrey Dennard Parker, Barbara Jean, Dennard Duncan, Wanda Dennard Gardner, and Lanara M. Dennard.

She leaves to cherish her fond memories children, Hugh Bernard Thompson Jr. (Tawana), Angela Gilmore (Turner Gilmore), and Fredrick Bruce Thompson (Stacey); grandchildren, Matthew Thompson (Faith), Marcell Thompson, Mari Thompson, Brady Thompson, and Bryce Thompson; great-grandchild, James Thompson; sister, Gloria Collins, along with a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
