A Homegoing Celebration service for Mrs. Brenda Ann Ward of Tampa, Florida who passed away on Saturday, July 17, 2021, will be held on Friday, July 30th, 11:00 a.m., at Greater Mt. Moriah P.B. Church 1225 N. Nebraska Ave., Rev. B.R. Fulton, pastor officiating. The interment will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery.
Brenda was born September 18, 1949, in Miami, Florida. She was the first of six children born to the late Everett Andrews and to Mother Gertrude Andrews of Ocilla, GA. She attended public school in Hillsborough County and was a graduate of Middleton High School class of 1968. After graduation she attended Pan American Airlines Flight School and became a flight attendant where she met her husband Rev. Alfred Vincent Ward Sr. They would later marry and start a family that brought forth three children: Vincent Ward, Cecil Ward, and Yulanda Ward. She would go on to co-pastor The New Jerusalem Primitive Baptist Church in Miami, Fla. and Zion Hill Primitive Baptist Church in Orlando, Fla. Her gift as a choir director was immediately capitalized upon as well which created the desire to sing in her children. She also sang with the gospel group called, 'The Ingram Singers' and traveled throughout Miami, Fla., and abroad doing concerts. She was also a seamstress and enjoyed sewing clothes for her children and her gospel group. Brenda Ward was an Orange County Correctional Officer for seven years. She attended Greater Mount Moriah Primitive Baptist Church for several years where she enjoyed singing in the #4 choir and other committees.
On July 17, 2021, Brenda quietly entered eternal rest and went to be with the Lord surrounded by her loving and devoted family. She was preceded in death by her father, Everett Andrew Sr., and brother, Everett Andrews Jr. She leaves to cherish precious memories of her survived by her three children, two sons Alfred Vincent Ward Jr. and Cecil Ward and wife, Sonya Ruby Ward; daughter, Yulanda Ward; grandchildren, Alfred Vincent Ward III., Skye Ward, Silva Ward, Sonyae, Naiani, Reginald King and Malik Robinson; great-grandchild, Malachi; mother, Mother Gertrude A. Andrews; siblings, Gloria Shellman, Shirlene Edwards, Evelyn Andrews, Grace Jones, Kenneth Andrews, Janice Burroughs, and Tonya Andrews; a host of aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces andcousins and other sorrowing relatives and friends.
