A Homegoing Celebration for Mr. Broadus Hicks of Tampa, Florida who passed away on Thursday, October 17, 2019 will be held on Saturday, October 26th, 1:00 p.m. at The New St. Paul A.M.E Church, 4603 N. 42nd Street, Rev. Byron Pressley pastor, officiating. The interment will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Broadus Hicks was born on July 11, 1934 in Warwick, Georgia to the late Alton and Susie Hicks. He attended school in Albany, Georgia and accepted Christ as a young child. After moving to Tampa, Florida he met and married the love of his life Gloria Jean Hartsfield of 67 years. They both became members of St. Paul AME Church, under the pastorate of Rev. Leroy Kennon. Broadus served faithfully as a Trustee Board Member and usher until his health began to fail him. He was employed with Georgia Pacific Corporation, until retirement in 1997. Broadus leaves to cherish his fond memories with his wife, Gloria J. Hicks; children, Michael Hicks, Sr. (Delonia), Debra McBride, Broadus G. Hicks, Cathy J. Hicks and Janice Williams (John, Sr.); grandchildren, Cynthia Hicks, Michael Hicks, Jr. (Cleshauna), Derrick Hicks,Sr., Antonio Hicks (Nicole), Ricco Hicks (Shatoria), Rashad Hicks, Sr. (Wanda) and John Williams, Jr. (Valerie) and Olivia Williams; like a granddaughter, Makenzie Morris; great grandchildren, Mykeda, Stefon, Michael III, Broadus, Dekoda , Derick, Jr., Tyeson, Micala, Leandre, Tenia, Jessica, Kenisha and Zaria Hicks and Kiija Burney; great great grandchildren, Rashad, Jr., Brayden, Bradley, Charles, Chase and Mackenzie Hicks; sister-in-law, Sheila McPhaul; brothers-in-law, Billy McPhaul and Larry McPhaul; cousins, Juanita Johnson, Yolanda Walton, Yolinda Anderson, Jean Massey; and a host of other grieving relatives, friends and neighbors; special thanks to Palm Garden Rehab, Advent Hospital, Belvedere Commons and Kindred Hospital. The visitation will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Friday, October 25th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the church on Saturday for the service.
