Obituary

Homegoing services for Mr. Brooker T. Fields, Jr. of Tampa who passed away Monday, April 6, 2015 will be held Saturday, April 18th at 11:00 a.m., at St. John Progressive Missionary Baptist Church, 2504 E. Chipco Street, Rev. Dr. Bartholomew Banks, pastor officiating. The interment will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery. Brooker was born on April 6, 1946 to Annie Lee Fields and Brooker T. Fields, Sr. in Estill, South Carolina. He received his formal education at Middleton High School and earned his ASC Certification in Automotive Mechanics at Manpower Development Center. He dutifully worked for Goodyear and Montgomery Ward and retired at the age of 62. He enjoyed taking care of his family, his grandchildren, gardening, listening to gospel and soul music, putting together miniature cars and playing horseshoes. Most of all he told the truth whether you liked it or not. Mr. Fields accepted Christ as his Savior at St. John Progressive M. B. Church and was truly blessed. He was preceded in death by his loving father, Brooker T. Fields, Sr. and a beloved brother, John Fields. He leaves to cherish his memories; his loving wife, Cecelia P. Fields; 7 daughters, Delirie Powell (Michael), Yvett Ellis, Lindann Fields, Skinethia Agee, Malynda Sykes, Bernietta Sherrod (Albert A. Jr.) and Annanora Fields (Anthony A. Lindsey); 1 son, Brooker T. Godfrey; 19 grandchildren, Delirie L. Ballard (Raymond White), Antonio Miller, Harold Ellis, Yvelisse Ellis, Michelle Jackson, Sherelle Cantave (Frank), Celisia Irvin, (Daniel Amir Mosquera), Robert P. Irvin, Jr., Arycia Fields, Laquita Agee, Olethia Middleton, Sarita Segarra, DiAdranique Mitchell, Aaliyah, Alyssa and Kevin Godfrey, Olethia, Freddie, and Tyeisha Michael; great-grandchildren, Kevin, Jr., Aaliyah and Alysa Ballard, Shanecia R., DeShaun W., Xavier K., Javion S., Oreiana Cantave, Makaila and Julius Jackson, Za'Mirra and India Cantave; 1 brother, John C. Fields; 4 sisters, Corine Stephenson, Savannah, GA, Nora Lee Sanders, Diane Youmas (Ricky), Estill, SC and Rebecca Fields, Luray, SC; 3 aunts, Daisy Marie Williams, Pineland, SC, Fibbie Holman, Estill, SC and Annie Man Warren, Luray, SC; 1 uncle, Johnny Holman, Estill, SC; 1 niece, Cassandra Sanders; 3 nephews, John La'Don Taylor, Jr., Darrell T. Peacock and Marvin A. Jones; 1 brother-in-law, Martin Jordan (Chris); 1 sister-in-law, Barbara Jean Fields; 1 devoted cousin, Johnny Mack Warren; dearest friends, Deacon Earnest and Lucy Mills, Brother Jefferson and family, Archie and Maye, Mildred Harvey, Walter and Bell, Cecil and Janie Lee and Mr. Beal and family; a host of other great-grandchildren, cousins, family, friends and church family, St. John Progressive M.B. Church. The visitation will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Friday, April 17th, from 5-8 p.m. The family will receive friends from 5-6 p.m. The friends and family are asked to meet at the church on Saturday for the service.
