Burn Mills,
Jr.
August 12, 1942 – March 16, 2025
Mr. Burn "Bonnie" Mills, Jr., passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, devotion, and cherished memories. Born on August 12, 1942, in Eufaula, AL, to Burn Mills, Sr., and Maggie Hosely, Bonnie was raised and educated in Eufaula, Alabama. At the age of 16, he relocated to Tampa, Florida in pursuit of better employment opportunities. He built a long and dedicated career as a glazier at Westshore Glass, where he worked for 33 years before retiring. Bonnie was a man of simple pleasures and unwavering values.
He found joy in visiting with family and took great pride in his role as a father and grandfather. Saturday mornings often found him enjoying breakfast with friends at their favorite café and landscaping. Sundays were reserved for NFL football at home and watching Western television drama series. His hobbies reflected his love for social connections and community. He enjoyed playing checkers and dominoes with friends, detailing cars, walking around the neighborhood and lending a helping hand to neighbors whenever needed.
Bonnie was preceded in death by his parents; his grandson, Rhodney Mills, Jr.; and ten siblings, six brothers and four sisters. He is survived by his loving wife, Gwendolyn Humphrey-Mills; children, Rhonda Mills-Moody (Bruce), and Rhodney Mills, Sr.; and stepdaughters, LaVonda Humphrey and Nekeda Simmons; grandchildren, Shantaeia Mills, Mahogani Lawrence, Tifani Mills, Angel Mills, Angela Mills-Bryant, Angelina Mills, Willie Lawrence IV, Giovanni Sosa, and Jordan Sosa; great-grandchildren, Kamontrae Lawrence, Collis Marrow, Rakeem Nealey, KeAndre McClain, Azrael Bryant, Royal Rae Lawrence, Harlem Lawrence, and Dalilah Lawrence; brother, Roy Mills (Robbie), brother-in-law, Luther Pete Humphrey; sister, Lottie Daniels; sister-in-law, Gussie C. Rucker; a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins; and special friends, Mr. Sam Kinsey and Mr. James Godwin. Bonnie's life was marked by quiet strength, steadfast dedication to those he loved, and the simple joys that made each day meaningful. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him.
