Carl was born to the late Robert and Theresa Warren on October 7, 1941, in Tampa, Florida. He graduated from Middleton Senior High School, class of 1960. He received his Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education from Edward Waters College. He did further study at Nova South Eastern University and Florida A & M University. After graduation, he was appointed position as a teacher at Williams Elementary School. He also taught at Calhoun and Lockhart. In addition, Carl was a patrol sponsor and scoutmaster. On June 7, 1969, he married Jewel Byrd Warren at St Peter Claver Church. Two sons were born, Carl Gregory and Conrad Pierre. From their two sons, they were blessed with three grandchildren, Alexxus, Kortlyn, and Conrad. Carl felt his greatest accomplishment in life was being a good husband, father, grandfather, uncle, cousin, and role model to his loved ones.
He was the owner of N&W Early Childhood Learning Center Inc., which performed a valuable service for the entire community. He enjoyed mentoring youth and working on community projects. He served on the Children Services Advisory Board of Hillsborough County, the Disproportionate Minority Confinement Committee, the Parent Teacher Association, and Juvenile Justice. He was president of the Men Senate and a member of New Horizon of Men, Knights of Peter Claver #379, and the Stewardship Committee. He served as the 25th Alumni President of the Middleton Class of 1960 and was a member of the Edward Waters Alumni Association. He served as Vice President of Everyday of Faith, Inc. He was the recipient of several religious, business, and community awards, a life member of Kappa Alpha Psi, and served as President of Delta Psi Chapter. Most importantly, he loved spending time with family and friends celebrating accomplishments, anniversaries, birthdays, and milestones. He was an outstanding caterer and bartender in the Tampa Bay Area. Carl touched numerous lives as an educator until he retired from Hillsborough County Public School System after teaching for more than thirty years. Held in high esteem by all who knew him, Carl was deemed a mentor and senior elder for his wisdom, humor, and Godly advice. Known affectionately as "Woosie" or "Big Daddy" friends came from everywhere to be in his presence always filled with talking, laughter, and enjoyment.
He loved fishing, golfing, entertaining, playing chess, and listening to music. He traveled extensively in the U.S. and other countries to include Austria, France, Germany, Italy, and Switzerland. He loved pets and his favorite was his Siamese cat named "Tee Tee". An avid swimmer, Carl was a swim instructor who enjoyed planning unique events. Guided by faith, love of family, love of friends, and serving others, he was a faithful member of St. Peter Claver Catholic Church and School. His membership in Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Knights of Saint Peter Claver and Middleton Class Alumni Association amplified his contributions to the community. He was surrounded during his most recent illness by a loving wife, family members, caregiver, and close friends.
Carl is preceded in death by his parents, Robert William Warren, and Theresa McKee Warren; aunt, Gertrude McCray; uncle, Carl Warren. He leaves to cherish his memories a loving wife of 54 years, Jewel Warren; sons, Gregory Warren (Shanta), and Conrad Warren; grandchildren, Alexxus Warren, Kortlyn Warren, and Conrad Carl Warren; brother, Colonel (Ret) Robert J. Warren (Iris); nephew Gerald R Warren (Irmgard); nieces, Iris T. Warren (Eric) Edmond, and Eileen J. Beckham (Johnathan); great nieces, Katherine Warren, Elizabeth Warren, Iris Beckham, Jasmine Edmond; great-nephews, Brandon Edmond, Russell Beckham, and Randall Beckham; The Byrd Family, The Carrington Family, The Davis Family, The Lewis Family, and The Norman Family, beloved godchildren, caretaker, Precious Green and a host of other sorrowing relatives and friends.
