Home going celebration for Ms. Carolyn Denise Walker, of Tampa, Florida, who went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 17, 2014. Memorial services will be conducted on May 24, 2014, at 12:00 p.m. at New Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 2511 E. Columbus Drive, Tampa, Florida 33605, with Rev. Larry Roundtree Sr. II, pastor officiating. Ms. Carolyn Denise Walker, (Pokey, which she was sometime called), was born on November 4, 1971, to the late Clarence Edward Walker and Willie Mae Jacobs (Doris Williams). Carolyn was a native and a resident of Tampa, Florida and was educated in the School district of Hillsborough County and received her Bachelor of Science degree in Social Work from University of South Florida. Carolyn continued her education by receiving a Master's degree in Psychology at Troy University. Carolyn was converted and baptized at an early age. Carolyn worked for Hillsborough County, Early Headstart department for over 10 years and received many awards and honors. Carolyn was preceded in death by her father, Clarence Edward Walker and her mother, Willie Mae Jacobs (Doris Williams); sister, Sheika Walker; grandparents, James Walker, Sr., Alice Walker, and Willie James Jacobs; uncles, James Walker, Jr., Willie Donaldson, Andrew Donaldson, Leroy Donaldson, and Herbert Jacobs. Ms. Carolyn Denise Walker leaves behind to cherish her fond memories a devoted daughter, Alexis Walker; 3 brothers, Charles Jacobs, Bruce Johnson, and Jovan Blackmon, Jr., all of Tampa; 1 sister, Chantrell Walker; of Tampa; grandmother, Dorothy Jacobs; 6 aunts, Veriginell Donald, Josie Kegler (Kenneth), Carriebell Donaldson, Terri Ricketts (Steve) and Mae Walker Young (Archie), all of Tampa, Florida and Lillian Walker, of North Carolina; very close friends, Horace Scott, Jr. and Stacy Lambert; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, great-aunts and a host of other loving relatives and friends. There will be no visitation the family and friends are asked to meet at the church for the service on Saturday.
