A Homegoing celebration for Mrs. Catherine Gordon of, 3208 N. Cord Street, who passed away on Saturday, July 10, 2010, will be held on Saturday, July 17th, at 2:30 p.m. at Spring Hill Missionary Baptist Church, 8119 E. Dr. M.L.K., Jr. Blvd, Tampa, Florida 33610, Rev. Johnny Epps, officiating. Interment will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery. Sister Catherine Gordon was born to the late John & Cora Branton on May 29, 1934. She was united in marriage to the late Ivory E. Gordon on August 24, 1953 until his passing October 27, 1998. Sis Gordon was well known around many, many churches for helping them on singing programs. She brought a lot of groups together in song. She was lead singer for the Gordonaires Gospel singers. She was a devoted wife and mother. On Saturday, July 10, 2010, Sis.Gordon departed this life to be singing with the Lord. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Cora Branton; husband, Ivory E. Gordon and sons, Ivory and Edward Gordon. Her memory will be cherished by her only daughter, Kathy Gordon (Darren); sister, Cora McNeal; grandsons, Michael Gordon, Clifford Gordon, Darean Gordon and Darnell Jackson; great granddaughter, Mesha Gordon; sisters-in-law, Edwina Branton, Cora Gordon and Mary Gordon of Archer Fl.; devoted niece, Cora Mae Butler; devoted nephews, Jeffrey Claude Branton and Charles Thomas (Linda); nieces, Lora Alexander (Albert), Fay Davis (Carlton), Sharon Branton, Felita McNeil, Patricia Branton (Maurice) of Jacksonville, Fl.; Eartha Thomas (Leroy), Carmen Thomas (Martel), Laura Willis (Leon), Elenor Turner, Annastovia Davis, Anita Smith of Archer Fl., Thelma Branton (Coleman), Catherine Branton, Dorothy Williams (Johnny), Coretta Donaldson, Paula Brown, Sandra, Pahnia, Rashida, Pwaisha, Jasmine of Archer Fl and Ada Lee; nephews, Charlie Thomas Sr., (Carol), Ronald Dawkins, Johnnie Branton Jr., Stanley Graham (Shamere), Billy Graham, Wilbert Branton Jr. (Gloria), Herman Branton, Chip Branton, Rick Branton, Harris Stanley of Archer Fl. The remains will repose on Friday, July 16th from 5-8 p.m. at Aikens Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Family and friends are asked to meet at the church by 2:15 p.m. Saturday. The repast will be held at Jackson Heights Church of Christ, 3817 E. Lindell Avenue, Tampa, FL.
