Homegoing Celebration services for Sis. Catherine Yvonne Humphrey-Tillman of Tampa, who passed away on Friday, August 12, 2011, will be held on Saturday, August 20th, 11:00 a.m. at New Progress Missionary Baptist, 3307 E. Shadowlawn Ave., Rev. E. J. Williams, Sr., pastor officiating. Interment will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery. Sis Catherine Yvonne Humphrey-Tillman was born to the late Daniel and Charlotte Humphrey on October 23, 1946 in Richlands, North Carlolina. Yvonne was educated in the public schools of Onslow County and was a graduate of Georgetown High School, Jacksonville, NC. She accepted Jesus Christ into her life at a very young age at Gospel Temple Holy Church. In 1991, she became a dedicated member of New Progress M.B. Church, where she served as secretary until her health began to fail. She also was a faithful member of choir #2. She retired from Honeywell/Sypris Company after 30 plus years of service, retiring in 2003. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Cassie Johnson, brothers, Daniel, Jr., and Thomas Humphrey. She leaves to cherish her fond memories a daughter, Yolanda Tillman of Ocala, Florida; a step-daughter, Yvonne Waters of Tampa, Florida; 3 sisters, Charlotte Humphrey of Tampa, Florida, Rosa Mae Williams (Oresley) of Pink Hill, NC and Cynthia Foster of Chesapeak, VA; 3 brothers, Carl Frank Humphrey (Evelyn) of Richlands, NC, Eddie Lee Humphrey (Janet) of Hyattsville, MD, and Kenneth Harold Humphrey (Jeanette) of Jacksonville, NC; 2 aunts, Shirley Bell of Richlands, NC and Mildred Marshall of Tampa, FL; 2 grandchildren; 2 devoted friends, Anna Jean Gant and Gloria Devine; and a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. The viewing will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Friday, August 19th, from 5 to 8 p.m. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the church on Saturday for the service at 10:45 a.m.
