A wake service for Mrs. Cathrine (Thomas) Johnson, formerly of Tampa, FL, who went to her room on high to take her rest Saturday morning, 10:57 a.m., from the Baywood Nursing Home (St. Petersburg, FL), will be held Friday (today), March 27th, 7 to 8 p.m. at Aikens Funeral Home, 2708 E. Dr. MLK Jr. Blvd. The family will receive friends at that time. Cathrine was the oldest of six children born to Lovett (Buddy) and Essie Mae Thomas on November 16, 1926 in Tampa, Florida. She was preceded in death by both parents; sister, Margaret (Duckie) Thomas; niece, Gloria J. (Bagley) Brown; and 3 brothers, Lorenzo, Fred and Lovett Thomas, Jr. She leaves to cherish her memories: 1 sister, Rosa (Washington) Jackson; 7 nephews, Leonard Washington Mays, Lorenzo Thomas, Jr., Robert (Mary) Brown, Gary Mays, Jerrel McPherson, Johnnie McGriff and Johnny Fimmis; 7 nieces, Margaret D. (Lrrol) McPherson, Deborah Dixon, April Mays, Cheree Solmon, Akenya McCloude, Britinae Mays and Colyia Carr; 4 cousins, Davis Thomas, Sr., Arthur Thomas, Deborah (Ben) Walton and Brenda (Johnnie) Liburd; and a host of great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, cousins and other sorrowing relatives and friends.
