Chanell was born on January 4, 1988, in New Bedford, Massachusetts, to Curtis Lee Cruz, Sr. and Daicy Vega.

Chanell enjoyed spending time with her loved ones. Her favorite hobbies were reading, watching Disney cartoon movies, and listening to music. She was also a known foodie.

She was preceded in death by her companion, Russell Bellamy; brother Tazmyn Soares; uncle, Mikey; and grandfather, Robert Cruz.

She leaves precious memories with her parents, Curtis Lee Cruz, Sr. and Daicy Vega; children, Diana Maria Valladares, and Dez-Moriah Nala Lee Vega; brothers, Curtis Lee Cruz, Jr. (Kristie), and Nathan Ismael Vega; sister, Tayleen Simas; aunts, Evelyn Krieger (Richard), and Melissa Cruz; uncle, Ismael Mikey Vega (Mary Alice Dearing); niece, Harley Cruz; nephews, Tazmyn Cruz, Camryi Cruz, Jaden Cruz, Kendrick, and Dwayne; childhood best friend, Janay; grandparents, Haydee Vega, Ismael Vega, Darlene Cruz, and Robert Cruz; and a host of beautiful cousins and other family members.
