Homegoing service for Mr. Charles Barnes 68 of DeLeon Springs, FL who passed away on November 18, 2011, will be held on Saturday November 26th at 11a.m. at New Progress Missionary Baptist Church, 3307 E. Shadowlawn St. with Reverend E.J. Williams, pastor presiding. Interment will be at Sky Way Cemetery, Palmetto, FL. He was born on October 21, 1943 to the late Charles and Cora Barnes. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Johnny and Wiley Barnes and sister, Joanne Barnes Small and daughter, Charlene Barnes . Charles Barnes worked 15 years for the City of Toledo, Ohio and then moved to Trenton, New Jersey where he worked for the City of Trenton for 33 years. After retiring he moved to Tampa, FL to spend time with his family. He was a member of the New Progress M.B. Church where he served as a member of the #2 choir until his health failed him. He was a member of I.F.A.M.M.Touched by many and missed by all he leaves to cherish his memories: a loving wife, Elouise Steel Barnes; 2 daughters, Jacqueline Barnes of Tampa, FL and Cora Wilcox of Boligee, AL; 2 step-daughters, Shirl Bell of Seffner, FL and Mattie Gray of Eutaw, AL; 2 stepsons, Nathaniel and James Gray both of Eutaw, AL; 2 sisters, Louise Waiters, Ellenton, FL and Hazel Barnes, DeLand, FL; a sister of support Sherry (Leroy) Harris of Tampa, FL.; 1 brother, Rev. Lawrence (Marjorie) Barnes of Milford, Delaware; 21 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; 1 aunt Rosetta (Richard) Johnson, Ft. Meyers, FL; 3 uncles, James Wright, Seattle, Washington, Larry Wright, Palmetto FL and Luther Ware (Inez) Palmetto; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The viewing will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Friday from 5-8 p.m. The family will receive friends from 5-6 p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the church on Saturday for the service.
