Charles, affectionately nicknamed "Goldie" was born on October 7, 1938 in Tampa, Florida, to Ernest Harris and Mattie Thompson. He loved playing dominoes, fishing, and watching western and detective movies.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Willie Harris, George Harris, and Freddy Harris; sisters, Matilda Kenon and Margarita Weldon.

He leaves precious memories with his children; Margie Walker, Betty Williams, Charles Harris, Jr., Robert Harris, Lisa McGee, Laura Wilson, Nathaniel Harris, Adrane Harris, Denise Harris, Randy Sanders, Marvia Robinson, Dequan Butler, and Willie Harris; a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters, Rita Harris and Emma Houser; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
