Charles
Maura
August 29, 1936 – August 4, 2009
Charles Lucius Maura, beloved son of the late Edward B. Maura and Thelma Mae Brinson Maura, was born August 29, 1936 in Tampa, Florida. He departed this life peacefully on Tuesday, August 4, 2009, going home to be with the Lord. Charles was educated at St. Peter Claver Catholic School and graduated from Middleton High School, class of 1956. He furthered his education at Florida A&M University, where he played the saxophone in the "Marching 100". After 23 years of service in the U.S. Army and 17 years of service with the U.S. Postal Service, he retired. Retirement offered complete freedom to pursue his hobbies: looking at TV 24/7, playing golf and spoiling his children and grandchildren, which were both high on his list of "life's priorities". He was considered top "Pop Pop" by his grandchildren. All who knew him appreciated his sense of humor and willingness to lend a helping hand. Charles was an excellent cook his specialty was pot roast and barbecue chicken. Charles loved the Lord and grew closer to him by worshipping at St. Gabriel Catholic Church and St. Peter Claver Church. In December 1985, he married Deborah J. from this marriage, once child was born, Keshia. He leaves to remember him in love: wife, Deborah; two daughters, Deborah J. Caldwell (Jimmie) and Keshia C.; three sons, Shannon D. Maura (Dwauna), Anthony Middleton and Gary W. Maura; seven grandchildren, Katrina Abreu (Uriel), Shannon and DaVonte Maura, Blake Middleton, Diamond and Demetrious Maura and Keyonte Moore; two great grandchildren, Niyah and Trinity Abreu; four nephews, Clarence Maura (Jane Frances), Bishop Douglas Maura (Mary), Fred Maura (Kinsey) and George Maura; niece, Hazel Manor, Brooksville, FL; two close cousins, Fred Maura and Daisy of Houston, TX.
