Charlie Lorenzo Aikens was born Saturday, November 6, 1954, in Tampa, Florida to loving and devoted parents, Dexter R. and Liller M. Aikens. He was educated in the public schools of Hillsborough County and graduated in 1986 from Hillsborough County Adult High School. Charlie "Dex" Aikens personal hobbies included: licensed avid firearm collector, attended local gun shows, licensed fisherman, collector of various contractor and car tools. Performed minor car repairs and minor household repairs for family and friends. He also enjoyed playing checkers and cards with his friends. Charlie was affectionately known as "Dex" amongst his friends, and he was a faithful father, son, brother, uncle and friend.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Russell, Dorothy, Elizabeth Ann, Norwell, Leroy and Lewis Aikens, and Herman L. Tim; uncle, Joseph Aikens; aunt, Doris J. Hanley; nieces, Rachel and Diana Aikens, and nephew, Russell Aikens, Jr.,

He leaves behind to cherish his memory: children, (LaTasha) Monique Matthews (Jamie), and her mother, Margaret Patterson, Charlie Aikens, Jr., and his mother, Wanda Wise Mills, Christopher Garcia (Grace) and his mother, Annette Garcia; companion, Janet Brown; grandchildren, Derel Matthews, Gabriel Matthews, Grace Matthews, Destiny Garcia, Carter Garcia, and Cali Garcia; great grandchild, Noah Gonzalez; parents; Dexter R. and Liller M. Aikens; brothers, Thomas Aikens (Yvonne), Edward Carris Aikens, Sr., Henry E. Aikens; sisters, Betty J. Aikens, Shirley M.
