A homegoing service for Mr. Charlie Junior Baker of Tampa, Florida who passed away on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 will be held Saturday, October 29th, 11:00 a.m. at Aikens Funeral Home Chapel, 2708 E. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd., Bishop Elgin Franklin of New Life Restoration,officiating. The interment will be in Orange Hill Cemetery. Charlie Junior Baker was born in Eufaula, Alabama on March 14, 1939, to the parents of Charlie and Ida Baker. He was preceded in death by son, Kalvosia L. Baker; brother, C.H. Baker and uncle, Jeannie Baker. At an early age Charlie relocated to Tampa, Florida in 1957. He joined hands with Emma J. Gilmore on Dec. 8, 1970 out of the union there were two sons. Charlie was affectionately known as 'Junior' he was fun to be around, good at telling jokes and making you laugh. He also loved fishing, grilling and hauling. He leaves to cherish fond memories of him with his wife of 45 years, Emma J. Baker; children, Michael, Eldred (Carol) and Mario Baker (Shawnda), Alveta Coleman and Valarie Anderson; grandchildren, Toshiba, Keala, Tomekia (Aaron), Michelle, Michael, Stacey, Shakita, Messiah (Shaunda), Eldrea, Marjorie, Linda (Sylvia) and Mario Jr. (Zorie); great-grandchildren, Demario, Christopher, Christian, Chantel, Keilah, Khalese, Kingston, Paris, Jermaine and Jemia; sisters, Mary Skipper and Cassey Ford (Rev. Ulysses); aunt who raised him as her own, Eva Baker; nieces, Jean Adams, Jackie Daniels (Jeff), Connie Kight, Jazzma, Lakeisha, Mashonda (Bentley), Ashley and Lyric; nephews, Byron, Samuel Knight, Tyrone Epps, Tony, Rico (Olivia), Tony and Gerald Adams; brothers-in-law, Walter Gilmore and Bobby Daniels (Gloria); loving cousins, Wade Green, Moses Shorter (Phyllis), Sharon (Teo), Beatrice (Ronald), Tia Guzman, James Baker (Rose), Authur Lee Underwood; close friends, Tom Morris (Betty), Kenneth Hammonds, Robert Moore, Annie Adams, Tom Hall and Bruh; Eboni, Melissa and Jessica staff at Whispering Oaks; and a host of devoted family and friends. The visitation will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Friday, October 28th from 5-8 p.m. The family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m. The family and friends asked to meet at the chapel on Saturday for the service.
