Harris

We are celebrating the life of Mr. Charlie Edward Harris Sr., who passed away on Monday, June 16, 2014. Charlie Harris was born February 11, 1932 to the late Anthony Harris Sr., and Sallie Mae Majors in Bluffton, Georgia. He later married the love of his life, Mary Ella Harris (nAC.e Howard), and moved to Tampa, Florida in the early fifties. Out of this loving union, the Lord blessed them with nine beautiful children. While his ultimate passion was serving the Lord through music and ministry, he also served the community as an entrepreneur that beautified countless lawns in Hillsborough County. Charlie Harris also was a faithful and devoted member of New Progress Missionary Baptist Church of Tampa, FL, and sung with The Southern Tone Gospel Singers. He was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony Harris Sr. and Sallie Mae Majors (nAC.e Harris); doting wife, Mary Ella Harris; daughter, Shirley Ann Woods; son-in-law, Joseph Woods, Sr.; brothers, Anthony Harris Jr. and Larry Harris and Benjamin Harris; sisters, Regina Harris Ingram, Wilma Walker and Geneva Harris-Ransome. He leaves to cherish his loving memory eight children, Charles Harris Jr., (Reyline), Rickey Harris (Toni), Rusty Harris, Donald Harris, Ronald Harris, Gwendolyn Deloris Isaac (Frank), Maria Theresa Harris (William) and Catherine Ball; grandchildren, Lakita Harris and 22 other grandchildren; 44 great grandchildren; one surviving sister, Eddie Harris Dancy, a special friend, Lillian Gaines and her two daughters, Precious and Brittany Williams, and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and other friends. The homegoing celebration will be held Saturday, June 21st at 11:00 am at Heaven Destiny Assembly, located at 4104 E. Ellicott Street, Tampa, Florida 33610. Any and all visitations will be held at Aikens Funeral Home Friday, June 20, 2014 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.
